Half the joy of collecting is seeing your haul on display. But the same sunlight that makes a shelf look great can yellow a plush, fade a figure and warp a card. The good news: with a few simple choices you can show everything off and keep it in great shape. Here's how we'd set up a display worth showing off.
Start with the right spot
Before you arrange anything, pick your location wisely. The ideal display spot is out of direct sunlight, away from heat sources, and not in a damp room. A wall that doesn't get afternoon sun, an interior shelf, or a glass-front cabinet all work well. Coastal humidity is the silent enemy here — a closed cabinet with a silica gel pack tucked at the back keeps moisture off your pieces.
Displaying figures and statues

- Keep them in or on their clear acrylic cases — it stops dust, fingerprints and accidental knocks.
- Avoid windowsills. UV fades paint and can make some plastics brittle over time.
- Dust with a soft brush rather than a cloth, which can snag fine details.
- Group by colour, region or Pokédex order for a display that looks deliberate rather than cluttered.
Looking after plush
Plush are the most sensitive to a bad spot. Sunlight fades fabric dye quickly and unevenly, and damp encourages musty smells:
- Keep plush well away from windows and out of bathrooms or other humid rooms.
- Display on a shelf rather than squashing them into a tight box.
- Give them a gentle shake and a soft brush now and then; spot-clean rather than soaking.
Showing off your best cards
If you've pulled something special, display it properly:
- Sleeve the card, then put it in a hard top-loader or one-touch magnetic holder before anything else.
- Use stands or wall frames designed for cards — never tape or pin a raw card.
- Keep framed cards off sunny walls; UV-filtering acrylic helps if you want them in a brighter room.
- Store the cards you're not displaying in a binder with side-loading pockets, somewhere cool and dark.
Rotate and enjoy
You don't have to display everything at once. Many collectors keep a rotating “feature shelf” of current favourites and store the rest safely, swapping pieces in and out. It keeps the display fresh and limits how long any single item is exposed to light.
